Author’s Note: Below is the rough cut for my “Re-Mediating an Argument” project. Although it is the first draft, I am very content with the outcome. I used a mash-up video to Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” as a model. My goal here was to present as many images and videos that are familiar and also coincide with my audio recording. Creating this project was a huge challenge for me because I have NEVER made a mash-up video. Actually, at the beginning of this project, all I had was an idea. I did not even know where to start! Despite the beginning challenges, I really like how successful this piece is at visually presenting the cultural allusions that I applied in my “Re-Purposing an Argument” project. If I had to recreate this project I would have utilized more images from different protest. This project is tailored readers interested in visual writing and representation and also readers who were unable to visualize the cultural allusions and references that were made in my repurposing audio project.
